Helping Hands is the fruit of my exploration on the give-and-take, friend-or-foe nature of photographic portraiture.  Sometimes the subject and photographer engage in harmonious collaboration, sometimes the relationship is adversarial.  For this project, that dynamic was explored and responded to in real time on location.  The subjects were gripped, prodded, and tenderly caressed until the right moment was revealed.
